David Bowie Pianist Returns to Midland
Mike Garson, a frequent pianist for David Bowie, will perform in the 7:30 p.m. show at Lincoln Park’s Mainstage Theater, joined by Dr. Barry Bittman, a neurologist, researcher and CEO of the Yamaha Music and Wellness Institute.
Tickets are $20, adults; $10, students for the “Physician Musician” show billed as “part improvisation, part original music, part audience participation,” led by Garson, whose best-known piano playing was on Bowie’s hit “Young Americans.”
Garson also played on Bowie album tracks like “We Are the Dead” from the “Diamond Dogs” album; “Aladdin Sane (1913-1938-197?)” from the “Aladdin Sane” album; “Bleed Like a Craze, Dad” and “South Horizon” from “The Buddha of Suburbia” album and various parts on 1995’s “Outside” album. He also performed with Nine Inch Nails in 1999 and the Smashing Pumpkins in 2000.
He previously performed at Lincoln Park in 2012.
