Famous Pianist To Play Ipswich Australia Concert
One of the world’s most famous pianists, David Helfgott, will give an eagerly anticipated solo recital at the Ipswich Civic Centre in Australia on August 3.
City arts spokesman Cr Charlie Pisasale said David Helfgott was acknowledged as one of the most remarkable musicians of our time and would perform popular romantic works from the repertoire of great composers such as Bach, Liszt and Beethoven.
“Book tickets to see the man whose life inspired the 1996 film Shine, which ultimately propelled David Helfgott to worldwide fame,” Cr Pisasale said.
“David Helfgott is a virtuoso pianist who touches the hearts of all who hear him and he truly brings joy to concert-goers of all ages.”
Cr Pisasale said a highlight of the performance would be David’s interpretation of Rimsky-Korsakov’s The Flight of the Bumblebee, which he performed to a huge international audience at the Oscars.
“Born in Melbourne in 1947, David Helfgott showed extraordinary pianistic ability from an early age and, since then, he has dazzled audiences around the world,” Cr Pisasale said.
“His challenging tale and life struggles were brought to the big screen and earned Australian actor Geoffrey Rush an Academy Award.
“We’re very excited to welcome David Helfgott to Ipswich for this special performance and audiences who have connected with his character on the screen will be swept away by his astounding talent and ability when he steps up to the piano.”
