Classical And Jazz Pianist Moyer To Perform At Riverside
Multitalented pianist Frederick Moyer returns to Riverside on March 24 with a blend of classical and jazz selections.
Moyer’s 30 years as a full-time concert pianist has taken him to 441countries, with appearances with the major orchestras of the United States, United Kingdom, Europe, the Far East and Australia.
Over the years he has developed an affinity for a wide variety of styles, culminating in over 20 recordings for the Biddulph, GM and JRI labels. The recordings include numerous commissioned works for him, including composers Louis, Donal Fox, Ned Rorem, Pulitzer Prize winner George Walker and others.
His residencies of one day to three weeks that combine major performances, master classes, workshops, and school performances have earned him the support of the National Endowment for the Arts and Humanities, the U.S. Information Service, the Alcoa Foundation, the U.S. China Arts Exchange, and the Korean Cultural Foundation, and many others.
The program for Village Concerts is scheduled for Sunday, March 24, at 3 p.m. at the chapel located on the grounds of Air Force Village West in Riverside, and will include works by Schumann, Rachmaninoff, Bartok and other classical masters. The jazz portion will include Mr. Moyer’s own improvisations, as well as his reinterpretations of jazz piano greats Oscar Peterson, Erroll Garner, Ahmad Jamal, Bill Evans and others.
